Mold and your health
Having Mold or Black Mold in your home is such a crummy situation. Just to let you know, people should NOT take mold lightly. If you breathe in mold long enough, it will get into your bloodstream and will never leave. Unfortunately, we've seen many of our clients (adults and kids) suffer from chronic health issues due to prolonged exposure to mold. They regret neglecting it, not understanding the severity of the situation.
Mold Removal and Remediation
There are many mold removal and remediation companies to choose from. The tricky part is finding a mold specialist that truly knows how mold originates and grows, AND can be reasonable in cost. Yes, I said the "c" word. It's not a secret that mold removal cost is not cheap. However, you absolutely should not cut any corners because if the root cause is not identified and resolved, you'll be dealing with another mold situation within months after the first treatment. So it's better to spend "smart money" by hiring the right professional that can get the job done correctly at a reasonable cost.
About Mold and Insurance Claims
Many of our clients ask, "Is mold covered under our home insurance policy?" The answer really, "depends". Many home insurance policies have been "modified" to include verbiage regarding mold contamination, and is now much harder to get rewarded any compensation for mold claims.
Homeowners need to be honest with themselves. It is human nature to "neglect" things that should be addressed and resolved. Most homeowners will simply "ignore" small leaks in the home. Why? Because it takes time, energy, and money to fix it. It's much easier to procrastinate and ignore things until they really need to be fixed. Mold falls under that category.
Mold needs moisture to grow, so small leaks into the home is a perfect fuel for mold. Basements, bathrooms, kitchens, are all great places for mold to grow. Usually, home inspectors look for water intrusion where leaks are most prevalent. Follow the water, and you'll find mold. Microscopic mold grows within 24 hours and become visible after 48 hours. Just think how many people allow mold to grow for years and years before finally calling us! This is why it's very hard to get the insurance company to pay for mold contamination, because it's usually due to the homeowner's neglect.
If this sounds like you or someone you know, call us. We are super-understanding and will provide you options that make economic sense for everyone, including us!
